Scope of Work:

Flexible travel requirement for the role. Consultant/ Engineer would be required in multiple locations with a 6 week period at each location within 3Hrs traveling distance from Birmingham.

• RNC related tasks which include integration with Node B
• RNC interfaces integration with MGW/ MSS/ PS core.
• Routine O&M (both preventative and corrective) related trouble shooting for RNC.
• Routine alarm collection and recommendation action for RNC.
• Correcting RNC faults and performance degradations in the network.
• Troubleshooting on RNC and its interfaces.
• Function verification in accordance with the maintenance documentation of the network element.
• Diagnostics on RNC interfaces to locate problems RNC and/or plug-in units.
• Hardware failure reporting and follow-up with Nokia Siemens Networks Hardware Services.
• RNC internal parameter audit as needed based on T-Mobile guidelines/recommendations.
• Software audits on RNC and NodeB as requested.
• License Key audit on RNC and Node B as required.
• Support and do coordination for re-homing of the cell site, frequency tuning and other network related tasks for UMTS network.
• RNW plan creation and download from OSS platform.
• Competence transfer for RNC, NodeB O&M to the local engineers via on the job training during routine activities.
• ATM/IMA knowledge transfer and implementation support.
• Support for implementation of NSN/T-Mobile Operations & Maintenance processes.
• Support in co-operating with the NSN technical support.
• Provide any 3G signaling processing knowledge as requested.
• Provide basic level of support for test and tools (TEMS, K18, NetHawk, Antenna Line system devices etc) and work with remote experts for Logs collection.

Required Competencies and Skills:

• Experienced in Nokia RAN & OSS system Technical support for the RNC/BSC which include routine RNC/BSC O&M (both preventative & corrective) and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years experience in Project, technical support and Equipment implementation for ex-Nokia 3G Radio Network Controller elements ( NodeB ) in wireless communications networks
• Creation of sites and neighbors (both UTRAN and GSM)
• Understand Protocol analysis and call flow messaging
• Understand protocol analyzer setup and output
• Understand the parameters for Air interface algorithms (Power control / Admission control / Handover control / etc.)
• Create KPI & monitor Alarm on the OSS application ATM/IMA knowledge and implementation

Education & Experience or Other Requirements:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent.

Minimum of 3+ years experience in Nokia UMTS/WCDMA & GSM.
