Vodafone to Employ 1,530 Extra Outsourcing Staff in Egypt

Vodafone has signed agreements in Egypt to increase its outsourcing of services to the country. The deals came after meetings between Vodafone's CEO, Vittorio Colao and Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel.

The first of three agreements.will double the current 1,200 workforce and provide services to Vodafone operations in the UK, Germany, New Zealand, and Qatar. Vodafone Egypt will also become the first choice for the Group to undertake business services globally.

A second agreement provides that Vodafone International Services shall expand its ICT Specialist Center through appointing 230 new specialists to provide hosting, technical software development and ICT services to the Vodafone Group in Germany and other parts of the world.

As to the third agreement, it states that Vodafone International shall establish a new R&D center (KPO & Analytics R&D) in which 100 Egyptian youths specialized in this field shall be working for Vodafone Global Enterprise.

Dr. Tarek Kamel said that "the increasing desire of world companies to increase their investments in Egypt, most notably Vodafone's, is a confirmation that the ICT sector in Egypt is just on the right track and is still able to assimilate much more investments which provides job opportunities for our youth.

The three agreements were signed by Dr. Hazem Abdulazim, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority "ITIDA" and from Vodafone International Services Mr. Hatem Dowidar, CEO of Vodafone Egypt.
