The RF Engineers key accountabilities and responsibilities are:
• Performance monitoring to identify and rectify Non alarmed faults, responding to customer problems and trouble tickets, tracking and resolving external interference
• Radio Access optimisation of RAN parameter sets, radio frequency spectrum (Ec/1o), etc to optimise dropped call rate (DCR), voice quality (VQ) congestion and data through put.
• Technical assistance and solutions in pre/post sales support to state based business and consumer teams
• Radio access network element design and preparation of documentation (including EME and council reports) in alignment with the customer’s national design standards
• Radio access network growth planning and capacity management to meet customer requirements and sales / marketing strategies
• New infrastructure integration and acceptance, site surveys and arranging coverage verification testing in accordance to procedures
• Network event and performance reporting as required by Team Leader
• Assist with new technology evaluation, tools development, practices and procedures
• Preparing network design documents
• Identify and participate in new opportunities and initiatives for reducing costs and improving service
• Comply with relevant design standards and Australian regulations
The critical experience and qualification areas for the successful performance in the role are:
• 3-5 years commercial experience with advanced radio access planning and capacity implementation skills
• 3-5 years commercial experience with access performance optimisation and statistical analysis ability
• 3-5 years experience in radio access design, planning and optimisation of GSM/CDMA and WCDMA networks
• At least 5 years experience in radio propagation and RF equipment
• Detailed knowledge of WCDMA, GSM and GPRS networks and products and theory of operation
• Advanced understanding of radio traffic management
• Detailed knowledge of antenna design, implementation, and RF propagation modelling.
• Well honed computer application skills with MS Office, mapping software, and GSM/WCDMA planning tools such as ATOLL, Planet, CE4 or Asset platforms
• Experience with drive test tools with a commercial focus (Tems, Agilent, Nemo etc) Post-processing tools (eg Actix, Tems investigation, etc) and analysis
• Understanding of transmission systems including PDH, SDH, ATM and DWDM, packet switched networks and frame relay
• You must hold current Australian working rights
• Ability to build business case and determine cost effectiveness of solution
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Solid understanding of quality systems, OH&S and regulatory compliance
